The pattern and colors of the Heian period junihitoe are reversed with the wisteria flowers that form the background.

Wisteria flowers based on patterns from the Heian period cover the body and hair, and the coloring of the attack, which was originally supposed to be drawn on the inside of the costume, is depicted as a background. The seemingly simple act of reversing the background and body patterns allows for endless interpretations. The presence of the hair blends in with the background, giving depth, creating uncertainty in the body and a vague boundary between inside and outside.

In this work, I expresses an ambiguous answer to the question of whether existence is shaped by itself or by its surroundings.

 

Wisteria flowers evoke the image of "death" from my own childhood memories, but by reversing it, it transforms into the meaning of life.
